Fortunately, we have the perfect odyssey for you and your loved one: This 13-day and 12-night trip whisks you away and sends you on the ultimate voyage through Italy’s uniquely enchanting region of Tuscany, then takes you on a magical journey through Greece’s timeless capital city of Athens and the gorgeous Aegean island of Crete.
From incredible art to delectable cuisine, this trip has it all, and hopefully, this trip will provide the two of you with exactly the odyssey you need for the perfect romantic getaway.
Tuscany: Florence, Siena, and San Gimignano
Buongiorno, and welcome to Italy! On your first day, we will pick you up at the airport and transport you to your wonderful hotel in Florence!
On day 2, you and your partner will take an incredible walking tour of the city. This tour includes stops at iconic Florence landmarks like the Ponte Vecchio bridge, the Leather Market & Porcellino, the Piazza Repubblica, and the Duomo, where you will learn more about the incredible backstory of the man who built this world-famous domed cathedral.
You will also visit the Accademia Gallery, one of the world’s leading art museums where you will find Michaelangelo’s original David sculpture.
The next day, get ready for even more amazing art history and stunning beauty, as we will treat you to an express first-entry tour of the Uffizi Gallery!
Enter the museum before the huge crowds, and walk along with your expert guide as you encounter Renaissance-era masterpieces like Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic Annunciation and Adoration of the Magi, Michaelangelo’s The Holy Family, and Sandro Botticelli’s Birth of Venus.
For the fourth day, you will enjoy a lovely day trip through the Tuscan countryside to Siena, Chianti, and San Gimignano.
You will have luxury transportation provided throughout the day, and you will be paired with a small group for a more intimate and relaxed experience.
You will have time to tour the well-preserved medieval old town of Siena, and you will discover landmarks like the town cathedral and the site of the Palio horse race.
From there, you will enjoy a gourmet lunch on an authentic farm in Chianti with premium wine pairings, then you make your way to the UNESCO World Heritage site of San Gimignano and have some time to make your own special moments in this wonderful town.
On day 5, we will take you back to San Gimignano, so you can do a very special cooking class.
In fact, you will head to a real Tuscan farmhouse, where you will learn how to make real Tuscan-style bruschetta, make pasta by hand and cook it perfectly, and prepare a delightful dessert to cap off this special meal.
This experience will also include a local cheese tasting and your pick of various local wines.
For your final full day in Italy, we will leave it up to you! There’s so much more to see and do in Tuscany, and you will have a prime opportunity to plan one more special date night with your loved one, or perhaps you will leave it to chance and enjoy a day of romantic serendipity.
Athens
On day 7, you will have to say goodbye to Italy, but that’s only because you will soon say geiá sou (or hello) to Greece!
Once you check out of your hotel in Florence, we will transport you to the airport, then you will catch your flight to Athens.
Upon arriving, we will transport you to your new hotel in the city, and we’ll leave it up to you to decide how you will spend your first night in Athens with your loved one.
The following day, we will send you on our signature private Mythology Tour of the Acropolis.
With an expert archaeologist and licensed tourist guide, you will ascend the Acropolis rock, encounter the dramatically scenic Theater of Dionysus, discover the cult temple of Athena at the Erechtheion, and see the Parthenon that continues to symbolize Athens’ special role as the birthplace of democracy.
While you’re in the neighborhood, you will also have time to explore the Acropolis Museum, which houses many more treasures of ancient Greece.
Crete
On the ninth day, we will provide a private transfer from your hotel in Athens to the airport in order for you to have an easy and seamless transit day.
From Athens, you will fly to the gorgeous, sun-kissed island of Crete. From the airport there, we will pick you up and take you to your new hotel in the town of Chania.
The following morning, we will send you off on a fantastic culinary tour of Chania’s nearby villages. On this tour, you will get to see and taste a side of Crete that most tourists never really experience.
This tour will include a stop at a local olive mill, where you will see for yourselves how authentic Greek olive oil is made, as well as a stop at a local, family-run raki distillery where you can learn all about the island’s signature spirit.
You will also get to stop at a local cheese factory to sample local cheeses, a bakery full of delectable cookies and biscuits for you to try, and even a local coffee shop where you can sip some real Greek-style coffee. To top it all off, you will also enjoy a full traditional Cretan lunch in the beautiful village of Fres!
For day 11, you will take a uniquely exhilarating tour of Chania. You will both get your own 3-wheeled Trikke (or electric scooter), so you can ride through town in style!
These Trikkes are specially designed to be used by anyone, so you don’t need prior hoverboard or e-bike experience to use these.
Instead, you can simply enjoy the ride as you breeze through Chania’s scenic streets, admire the town’s unique architecture, take in panoramic views of the town and the waterfront, and discover all sorts of amazing landmarks, from the Jewish Synagogue and the Ottoman Minaret to the Venetian Harbor.
For your final full day in Greece, you will have one more free day in Chania for you and your partner to do as you please.
Savor the moment and seize the day however you like, and take advantage of the many opportunities to put together one more special date night to finish this romantically enchanting odyssey.
Departure
After 12 days of experiencing quite the enchanted odyssey, it’s time to wrap up this trip.
To complete your vacation, we will provide one more private transfer from your hotel at Chania to the airport, and we will do our best to ensure you will have plenty of time to make your flight.
