Mediterranean Marvels: A Family Adventure in Italy and Greece

On the fourth day, we will provide a safe and comfortable train ride to the fabulous city of Florence. If anyone in the family is a train lover, then this day will be particularly fun as you ride a modern Italian train and enjoy timeless views of the Tuscan countryside.

Upon arrival at the train station in Florence, we will transport you to your new hotel in town.

On day 5, you will take the ultimate art tour at the Galleria dell’Accademia, one of the world’s most famous museums.

Here is where you will find Michaelangelo’s iconic David sculpture, and here you will learn more about the artist, his creative process, and how he turned his vibrant visions into timeless works of art.

On the sixth day, we will take you to another of Florence’s finest art museums! At the Uffizi Gallery, you will find glorious artistic treasures like Leonardo da Vinci’s Annunciation and Adoration of the Magi, along with Titian’s Venus of Urbino and Sandro Botticelli’s The Birth of Venus.

In addition, you will get to see local landmarks like the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, Palazzo Vecchio in Piazza della Signoria, and the Ponte Vecchio bridge. When you and the little ones are ready for a refreshing dessert, you will also get to try some real Florentine gelato!

For day 7, you will hop on the train, where you can relax and enjoy the ride up north to Venice.

Check into your new hotel, then embark on an action-packed, kid-friendly tour of the city that includes two of Venice’s greatest landmarks, St Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace.

Your private guide will keep everyone on their heels and in their feels (in the best possible way) with entertaining stories, fascinating facts, and jaw-dropping mysteries.

The following morning, make sure to bring your best appetites because we will send you a great foodie tour of the city. Taste some of the best that Venice has to offer at 5 locally owned spots in the city’s delectable San Polo and Dorsoduro neighborhoods.

You will also learn all about Cicchetti, the Venetian specialties that pack a ton of flavor into small plates, and you’ll try a local gelato-based dessert that’s earned rave reviews for over eight decades

On the ninth day, you will have to say arrivederci (or goodbye) to Italy. But that’s only because you will soon say yassou (or hello) to Greece!

Once you check out of your hotel in Venice, we will transport you to your hotel; then you will catch your flight to Athens. Upon arriving, we’ll take care of your transportation to your hotel and let you enjoy some time to rest or relax for the rest of the day.

The next morning, we will set you up with a friendly and knowledgeable local guide, then send you off on an exciting, family-friendly tour of the Acropolis.

Whether your kids are fascinated with Greek history or they want to see a lot of “cool stuff,” there’s plenty here for the whole family to see and do.

Your guide will explain the history behind the mythology represented at the Acropolis’ monuments, including the Propylaea, the Temple of Nike, the Erechtheion, and the Parthenon.

You can also opt for 3D iPad enhancement to catch glimpses of the Acropolis as it looked in the fifth century BCE.

On day 11, you will be leaving Athens to discover more of Greece’s wonders of the Peloponnese. We will take care of your transportation from Athens to Nafplio, then you will check into your hotel in town.

The following day, we will send you on an epic tour of the historic archaeological sites of Mycenae and Epidaurus.

At Mycenae, you will discover the Lion Gate, which served as the gateway to the Bronze Age citadel that once stood here, as well as the incredible Tomb of Clytemnestra and the Treasury of Atreus.

At Epidaurus, you will tour the Sanctuary of Asclepius and the Ancient Theatre, which are so incredible that they became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.

Following your day trip, we will bring everyone back to the hotel for the night.

For your thirteenth day, we will pick you up at your hotel in Athens and transport you to the airport, where you will fly to the enchanted island of Crete. Upon your arrival, we will then take you to your new hotel on the island.

On day 14, you will have the chance to create your own culinary masterpieces. We will transport you to a private kitchen in the countryside near Heraklion, where you will try your own hands at traditional Cretan recipes while using the finest locally-sourced ingredients.

Your menu will include traditional Greek foods like dakos (or soaked dried bread with tomatoes and cheese) in dolmadakia (grape leaves stuffed with rice and vegetables).

Especially if your kids like to experiment in the kitchen, they will love this cooking class! Once you’re done cooking, you can all enjoy the fruit of your labor, plus the adults will get to try some fine Cretan wines.

For your final day in Greece, we will whisk you away to the center of Europe’s first civilization.

The kids (and the “kids at heart”) will have a monumental time exploring the legendary Palace of Knossos, and you will all learn the history behind the legends of Daedalus and Icarus, the labyrinth of the Minotaur, and the love story of Theseus and Ariadne that were all set here.

You will also visit the recently renovated Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, where you will find many more jaw-dropping ancient artifacts.

After your busy day of adventures around Crete, we will return you to your hotel for your final night in Greece.

Though your time with us will be coming to a close, we have one more thing to take care of: making sure you and the whole family make it to your flight(s) home on time.
