Wyndham Grand Athens is located in the district of Metaxourgio, right next to Metaxourgeio metro station. It is in the northwestern part of the historic center of the city of Athens. Approximately in the center of the area is the homonymous square, with a marble fountain as its trademark. Full of neoclassical buildings and small pedestrian streets, Metaxourgio hides a long history in its alleys. The huge concentration of theaters in the neighborhood is anything but accidental. Metaxourgeio has been the pre-eminently theatrical neighborhood of Athens since the interwar period. The Art Gallery of the Municipality of Athens is housed in the former silk factory that gave its name to the whole neighborhood -’metaxi’ means ‘silk’ in Greek. Additionally, being close to the city center, you’ll be in close proximity to most of Athens’ attractions such as the Acropolis Hill, the Acropolis Museum, and the districts of Plaka, Monastiraki, and Psiri to name a few.
Eat the best souvlaki in town at ‘Elvis’.
