14-Day trip to the Cyclades: Athens, Syros, Tinos & Naxos

It’s time to move on and go traveling to the unexplored islands of the Cyclades!

On the third day, arrive at Athens airport with your personal driver and catch a flight to the first island, Syros, the island where Greek tradition and Western influence blend in a harmonious way. 

Get transferred to your hotel in Ermoupoli and spend your free day exploring the ‘city of Hermes,’ the capital city of the island, and the Cyclades group, too.

On day 4, a half-day tour of Syros’ highlights awaits you! Visit the majestic cathedral of St. Nicolas; marvel the Apollon Theater, also known as ‘La Piccola Scala’; walk through the monumental Town Hall that rises in the middle of Miaoulis Square, the historic square of Syros; admire the authentic icon of The Dormition Of The Virgin Mary painted by El Greco (Dominikos Theotokopoulos) at the church of Assumption and enjoy the breathtaking view from the old town of Ano Syros. 

The following day, the choice is yours. Either take the day for yourselves or opt for a cooking class in the professional kitchen of a guesthouse in Ermoupoli, a 19th-century neoclassical mansion.

With the help of a passionate cook and food lover, engage in hands-on experience and learn cooking techniques and secrets of Greek cuisine.

After you prepare five traditional dishes, enjoy a Greek feast, and savor the meal in the shaded courtyard of the guesthouse. 

The next morning, reach the port of Syros by your private vehicle and take the ferry to Tinos, the next destination of your trip. Once you get to Tinos port, let us drive you to your hotel where you can relax for the rest of the day. 

For day 7, a tour of the land of Tinos and its beautiful villages is due; a tour that combines amazing natural scenery and tradition!

Through this activity you will get the chance to visit the picturesque village of Falatados; the granite mountain of Exomvourgo, which is the site of a ruined Venetian fortress and town; the village of Volax with its unique surrounding of big round rocks that give the whole landscape a lunar appearance; and the village of Tripotamos, one of the oldest ones which features traditional architecture, stoned arches, and narrow alleys. 

The next day will be free for you to get familiar with the island and its beauties.

Tinos Island is the most important Orthodox center of worship in Greece.

So, while strolling around the town of Tinos, don’t forget to visit and admire the imposing church of Panagia Megalochari (the Blessed Virgin Mary), the most significant religious monument where thousands of worshipers come every year. 

On Day 9, embark on a tour of your choice; a wine-tasting experience or a walking tour of Tinos Old Town!

On the former tour, you will walk with your local guide between granite boulders to reach a vineyard located in the village of Gardari.

Once you reach the vineyard, you will taste the famous wine and local delicacies in the courtyard in front of a restored old farmhouse.

During the latter, your local guide will show you around the unknown side of the town and its well-kept secrets. You will discover cobblestone paths, traditional houses, old mansions, and the old road with the shops.

Rise and shine early in the morning and continue your exploration by taking the ferry from Tinos to Naxos, the biggest and greenest island of the Cyclades.

Get transferred to your hotel in the seaside village of Agios Prokopios where you will have the rest of the day free for exploration.

Visit locations off the beaten track and dive into the island's vast history, local tradition, and food culture!

On this tour, you will get the opportunity to admire the magnificent ancient temple of Demeter, visit a local pottery workshop, discover the fresh flavor of Kitron liqueur get to know how it is made in a traditional distillery, and taste extra virgin olive oil at the Museum of Olive Press.

On day 12, take the day off and explore Naxos’ beauties on your own. Make your way to one of the many beautiful beaches, such as Agios Georgios or Plaka Beach, or to the pretty Chora of Naxos. 

On the penultimate day, you can opt for a full-day cruise around Naxos discovering some of the most beautiful sceneries the island can offer.

Have several stops for swimming or snorkeling in the cooling waters and visit hidden coves and jewel-like beaches only accessible by boat.

While onboard, enjoy your lunch made out of local, fresh ingredients and try some locally produced wine or taste Greek spirits such as raki. Can’t think of a better way to end your trip!

On your last day, let us drive you to the airport of Naxos early enough to catch your flight back home. Full of memories and experiences, it’s time to bid this amazing 14-day trip goodbye! Until next time!
