Start your fun tour in Chania, with our local expert guide picking you up from your accommodation. You will drive through the green valley of Ayia and head to the historic and extraordinary village of Alikianos.
There, you will relish a morning stroll around the village’s picturesque streets and landmarks. Your instructor will then give you the opportunity to mingle with the locals and learn about the local traditions and the stories behind the traditional dances of the region in a local coffee shop -or ‘Kafeneio’- where you will stop for a cup of coffee.
After your morning adventures, it is time to head to the dancing academy for your fun dancing class. Before learning the steps to some of Crete’s most popular traditional dances, like ‘Syrtos’, ‘Pentozali’, ‘Sousta’, your instructor will dress you like a Cretan. You will learn from them about each part of the local uniform as you were them, and see the past of the island unravel before your eyes.
After dressing like a local, you will get your photos taken to commemorate your fun time with us and them back with you as a souvenir. Then, it will be time for the actual dancing to take place! One of the best Cretan dancers will teach you the steps of the best and most famous Cretan dances, and show how the locals do it. Don’t worry about being overwhelmed by information. Your instructor will lead the way step by step.
After sweating your energy away, it will be time to refuel with a full traditional Cretan lunch consisting of unique local delicacies you’ll fall in love with.
