Why you should book a Greek cooking class in Athens:
1. It is the best introduction to Greek food
Yes, you can go to a traditional eatery or a restaurant and eat tasty Greek food, but what better way to experience the country’s cuisine, than participating in a cooking class in Athens? You will have the opportunity to savor the best Greek food, cooked and prepared by chefs. You might also taste certain dishes that you would never get to see in a restaurant. At the same time, you will be able to create some of the most famous Greek dishes on your own, understanding, in this way, what makes the Greek culinary experience so great.
2. It will improve your cooking skills
Taking a class is never a bad idea; every day is a school day! In our Greek cooking class, you can hone your skills by studying the technique of professional chefs and cooks. A simple recipe might teach you how to prepare a Greek dish, but it doesn’t compare with a good cooking class. The cooking happens in real time, so you can observe, cook, and ask questions. The interactive experience is what makes the process so exciting, and learning about Greek cuisine will enrich your general knowledge regarding cooking!
3. You will gain an improved perception of Greek gastronomy
Learning and understanding the cooking process of Greek cuisine helps you appreciate more the food you are eating. After your cooking class, you will be able to stroll around Athens and acknowledge high-quality food in restaurants. Due to your better understanding of Greek cuisine, your changed perception will help you to avoid certain places with bad food.
4. You will meet people who share the same interests with you
Our small-group cooking class is a social event. Small groups of travelers create a joyous and functional class, allowing the participants to communicate and learn. Meeting strangers with the same passion as you is part of the fun! The Greek culinary experience is not complete if you don’t share it with someone. Socializing and discussing with others while cooking and tasting is one of the goals in these courses.
5. It is a different and unique experience
A lot of people visit Greece every year to experience the beautiful blue sea, the sandy beaches and learn about this country. How many people get to do something different though? Participating in a cooking class is a unique and memorable happening that not a lot of people get to experience. As an interactive form of tourism, cooking classes allow the participants to learn, taste, and communicate, while still enjoying their wonderful vacation.
6. It will double as a history lesson
The history of a country can be found in monuments, but also in food. A lot of the traditional, Greek dishes have a long history and are vastly influenced by different cultures’ and countries’ cuisines. Through a cooking class in Athens, your history knowledge of the region will expand, as a cooking class is also a crash-course history lesson. Discovering the gastronomical tradition of Greece will help you communicate better with the locals; especially in a restaurant where you can discuss food with the waiters, cooks, and owners; you might even get them to share the recipe for your meal!

My friend and I booked the Greek cooking class it was amazing. We met Marina at the hotel lobby. She intoduced us to a small local lunch spot with barrel wine cheese, olives and meats. The food was fresh and delicious and she adapted the menu to our taste. Highly recommend this tour.
After reading all the great reviews about Greeking.me I decided to book my private Greek cooking class. Nikos was so wonderful - helping me book my class attended to every detail. It was a wonderful day in the kitchen learning about Greek culture and customs. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has an interest in cooking. Nikos and Marina- you are the best!
We booked a private cooking class and it was a great experience for my seven-year-old daughter and me. Marina met us at the market where we had a brief tour before heading to her apartment to cook. We learned a lot about preparing Greek food, and my daughter was given a lot of tasks that she could execute. I highly recommend Marina and Greeking.me.
The walk through the market area of Athens was so informative to both of us. We not only discovered shops and hidden gems but learned many things about the local foods and customs. After the tour, we had a lovely cooking lesson and lunch. I would definitely recommend this tour to any visitors in Athens. Don't miss it!
My guide/cooking instructor Marina was excellent. She took me around the central market in Athens pointing out different culinary highlights. We made Greek spinach pie, tzatziki, Greek salad and for dessert, yogurt with two different specialty artisanal honeys.
I've taken a lot of cooking classes around the world, and this was one of the best ones. Our instructor, Marina, was great and very knowledgeable. It was an eye opening experience! We picked up the ingredients for cooking class and even sample some cheese along the way. Good times! Then we went to her flat and started cooking. She chose recipes to accommodate my dietary restriction and OMG the food was so good!
Marina was absolutely amazing and far exceeded our expectations for a cooking class! The shopping experience brought the Greek culture to life. Marina taught us to make superb dishes that we will treasure in our memories of Greece! Thank you!
Marina met us at our hotel and we traveled to the Central Market where we bought the ingredients. We walked a block away to the vegetable market and purchased everything we needed. Then we travelled with Marina to her private space where she guided us in preparation of the dishes adding some pungent spices that were key to developing exceptional flavor. The meal was scrumptious. I highly recommend this class
We did 2 tours through Greeking.me (Greek Ambrosia & Zorba), and I recommend them both. Everyone was so friendly, and I feel like they helped us to have a much deeper experience of the city and the country. Turns out I'm not a very good dancer, but it was fun! And we have already recreated the dishes we learned to cook two times since coming home. I loved Athens and if I have the opportunity to go back, I would reach out to Greeking.me again.
